Family Ministries - Confirmation (Gr. 8)
Confirmation - Grade 8
Confirmation class for youth is for eighth grade and up.
The Confirmation journey will consist of five components: Instruction, Mentors, Worship, Statement of Faith and Outreach.
* Instruction - The Rev. Dr. Bill Duffey will be teaching Confirmation class in the Chapel after the 9:15 a.m. worship service.
* Mentors—In addition, each student selects a mentor to be their companion for the journey. Local godparents or active St. David’s parishioners make good mentors.
* Worship/ Senior Sermons—Confirmands will be assigned a Senior Sermon service to participate in. The entire Confirmation class should attend all sixx of the Senior Sermon services together.
* Statement of Faith—New this year, confirmands will prepare a Statement of Faith. More information will be available at the beginning of the Sunday School year.
* Outreach—Confirmands will have the opportunity to work cooperatively on a local outreach project. A list of sites for Outreach activities will be available at the beginning of the program year. Outreach events will be from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.with lunch provided.
Confirmation Mentors Training Session
A Sunday, September 26
10:30 a.m. in the Chapel
At this session, Bill Duffey and Alison Harrity will introduce the mentors to the mentoring process and distribute the support materials to guide them through their sessions with the confirmand. Support sessions for mentors will be help throughout the year to make sure everyone is right on track. If mentors cannot make this meeting, please contact Alison Harrity, aharrity@stdavidschurch.org, 610.688.7947 to get the materials.
The Rite of Confirmation will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2011, with the Bishop’s visitation.
Confirmation classes will meet in the Chapel from 10:30-11:10 a.m.

Confirmation Rite of Admission ... What is that?
The confirmation process that 45 of our 8th grade students have entered into this year is rigourous and includes classes, outreach, meetings with a mentor, and particiaption in the life of the church. Because this year these students consider reaffirming their own baptismal covenant before the bishop of our church in June 2010 we want the whole congregation know that they will be working extra hard over the next 8 months to determine what this Christian Faith and Life means, we ask them to stand before the congregation and make a formal commitment to the process, and we ask that you make a commitment to praying for them this year.
