This is an area to describe the details of the event. Or you could have any information in here really, it just doesn't matter all that much. But the real test of an area like this is how much text it can actually hold. I mean, surely there must be limits. Right? Well if there are we sould probably display a Link Style.

St. David’s interest in the Episcopal Church of Cuba began in October 2017 when several parishioners attended a dinner in honor of the Bishop of Cuba at St. Thomas’ Whitemarsh. It was followed by a pilgrimage to Cuba in February 2018 with three other churches from the Diocese of Pennsylvania (DioPA) to visit with the Bishop and learn more about Cuba and its 46 Episcopal Churches.

About Our Outreach Missions in Cuba

St. David’s is joining other churches from the DioPA - St. Thomas’ Whitemarsh and Advent Episcopal Church in Kennett Square - to find out how they can best partner with the Church of Cuba.  This group will work directly with the Bishop’s vision to install water purification systems and look into future opportunities to partner with a church or get involved in helping build Camp Blankenship, a year-round center of worship and education for the youth of Cuba and visitors from around the world.  The DioPA group is working with other groups it met including the Friends of the Episcopal Church of Cuba (FECC) from St. Luke’s in Connecticut and the Clean Water Drinking Team (CWDT) from West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Episcopal Church of Cuba received great news in July at the General Convention in Austin, Texas.  By unanimous vote by the House of Bishops, the Episcopal Church of Cuba was re-admitted as a diocese of the Episcopal Church.  Cuba was separated from the Episcopal Church back in the 1960's after the revolution.  Click here to read the news release.

Next steps

The group forming from the DioPA plans to return to Cuba on a working pilgrimage in early 2019.  If you would like more information or to get involved, contact Lois Redmond at redmondfamily1@comcast.net.  Another way to learn about Cuba is to travel there by joining the FECC who is sponsoring a Royal Caribbean cruise making stops in Cuba from Jan 13 to 21, 2019.  More information is available at this link.
