The Rev. W. Frank Allen teaches the New Members' class.New Members' Class
Five Week Class on Sunday afternoons
Offered twice each year from 3:00-4:30 p.m.
In the Library
All through our lives we are growing in our faith and learning what it means to Share in Christ’s Ministry at St. David’s and in the world. This is especially true for those of us who are just joining St. David’s or those of us who are feeling moved to join the Episcopal Church. We have just the class for you!

Twice each year our Rector, Frank Allen, teaches a five week course on Sunday afternoons to help you grow in your faith, learn more about the Episcopal Church and how you can join in the mission and ministry at St. David’s. It is a class that is also ideal for adults who want to be baptized or be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church.

All are welcome and we ask that you contact Marilyn Callaghan, mcallaghan@stdavidschurch.org,  to register for the class so that we can have enough materials prepared.

Outline of the Christian Faith

Cursillo Weekend
Cursillo is a weekend short course in Christian living. At the Cursillo weekend, you will meet life-long friends, hear true life-changing experiences, and have time to reflect on your gifts and how you can use them.

A number of St. David's parishioners are active in participating/leading the diocesan sponsored 3-day weekends [offered in Spring & Fall] & continuing “reunion” spiritual groups for the continuing journey of faith. For more information about the Cursillo movement in Pennsylvania, click here

Phoenix logoThe Phoenix Lecture Series
This year's lecture, Right to Health Care: The Ethics and Challenge of Reform, was given on February 21 by Dr. Arthur L. Caplan, Director of the Center for Bioethicsand Emanuel and Robert Hart Professor of Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania.

You can listen to the lecture here.

The Phoenix Series provides a public forum for discussion of critical issues, celebrating the triumph of the human spirit in the face of adversity with the motto, “Building the Human Community with Peace and Justice.” The series was established in 1996 to commemorate a special relationship between St. David’s Episcopal Church and Main Line Unitarian Church that began in 1990 when fire destroyed the Unitarian church. For two and a half years during reconstruction, St. David’s provided its Unitarian neighbors with a place for worship and work.

A wine and cheese fellowship hour follows the presentation. There is no admission charge, but a freewill offering is welcome. Child care is available.

Lenten Program
The annual Lenten Program offers special programs with guest speakers and programs that draw parishioners together for an evening of fellowship and Lenten learning. Past programs included the Rev. Bruce Stewart, the Rt. Rev. Fred Borsch and Amanda M. Hughes.

The Lenten Devotional Book
The Lenten Devotional Book is written and edited annually by members of our parish. This booklet is an opportunity for a deeper reflection during the 40 days of Lent and Holy Week, as well as, the occasion for parishioners to share spiritual learning, prayers, poetry and art work. It is mailed to the entire parish in time for Ash Wednesday. Extra copies are available in reception areas.

St. David’s Church Library
The Library supports all listed programming and spiritual groups by including specific resources and others in various medias for the wider congregation. Each year the Church school donates books in honor of the ministers of teaching and children’s worship liturgical teams. Materials may be used on site or borrowed for a defined amount of time.

Books with a Pedigree
A special group of gently used books, some in mint condition and/or signed by the author is now available for purchase. Binders containing the list are available in the Library and the Parish office or you may download it from the link below. For further information, contact Grace Keffer, graceawk@verizon.net.
