Introduction to The Interior Castle: A Contemplative Journey
October 18 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, happening 6 times
Center for Spiritual Growth
Led by Leigh Murray
Saint Teresa of Ávila was a Carmelite nun and prominent Spanish Mystic. Her spiritual masterpiece, The Interior Castle, offers us a map of how to move deep within ourselves to find our divine center, drawing into union with our Beloved. Join Spiritual Director, Leigh Murray, for an experiential journey to explore the teachings found in The Interior Castle. The intention is to allow you to deep-dive into your own interior castle (soul) to experience Saint Teresa’s teachings in your own unique way.
We will meet for six weeks and move through the first four mansions outlined in The Interior Castle. The intention is to focus on core principals such as how to enter our interior castle, and how to consciously begin the journey to deeply know ourselves. We will do this through curated readings, dedicated practice and increased use of our imagination.
To prepare for this contemplative journey, participants need to please read at least the first half of The Interior Castle (Mirabai Starr translation) before we begin, and be prepared to engage in weekly readings, guided meditations and journaling practices (approximately 20 minutes a day, plus the weekly class).
We will meet on Tuesdays beginning October 18th. Class runs for 1.5 hours and is limited to five or six participants. Come enter the journey to truly know yourself, and your interior world, as we dive into the wisdom of Saint Teresa’s timeless teachings together!
The class costs $120 per person. Scholarships are available; please contact The Rev. Emily Zimbrick-Rogers. Payment accepted by cash, check (made out to St. David’s), or online. Make note of Interior Castle in the memo line.
Please register by Friday, October 7, 2022.
