Claiming My Identity in Christ
led by De Yarrison of You Are Made New

During the retreat, we will grow in the skills of self-compassion, self-acceptance and self-love by taking a deep dive into the Truth of who we are. Our Identity in Christ. Who does He say that we are:

Chosen
Blessed
Daughter / Heir(!)
Beloved

We all know the Truth of our identity. We’ve heard it at church and in scriptures throughout our lives: We are God’s chosen ones. We are His beloved. Yet, we often move through our lives without experiencing His love personally, without letting it flood our beings and impact our daily lives. In what ways do we do this? How are we putting obstacles in our own way?

Friday night, we’ll explore scripture verses that speak the truth of our identity in Christ (as above: chosen, blessed, daughter/Heir, beloved). We will also look at common messages that contradict and tempt us away from these truths. What are the messages we tell ourselves? What are those that we learned from our family members and from the culture we live in?
Saturday, we’ll look at ways to pull the Truth of who we are down into our everyday lives. This will mean looking at:

  1. How to stop the self-criticism and grow in self-compassion. Foster a self-supportive inner conversation.
  2. Spiritual tools and how to lean into the Lord when we are anxious, overwhelmed, negative, or otherwise stuck in an undesirable emotional place.
  3. Scripture verses that speak the Father’s blessing over our lives.
  4. Process/ Structure:
Retreat will be a mix of talks, small group break out conversations, individual reflection, meditation time with scriptures (can everyone bring their bible?), group shares, and an experiential exercise.
