New Trex Bench in the Arboretum thanks to Creation Care

Thanks to our Creation Care team, St. David’s participated in the Trex NexTrex Recycling Challenge and collected 1,000 lbs of plastic film in under 1 year to “earn” a free bench. Mainline Unitarian (MLUC), Christ Church, and St. Martin’s (who recently joined our coalition) helped. The bench is now located in our Arboretum providing sturdy, updated seating to the area. A small marker is coming soon to honor our efforts. Last year St. David’s helped MLUC earn their bench. Our ongoing collections will now go towards a bench for Christ Church, Ithan (Villanova) and then St. Martin’s, Radnor.

Help us collect and bring in plastic wrap—the stuff that usually ends in landfills, incinerators, or our waterways, polluting our environment and injuring our health—as we collect for TREX, a company that genuinely recycles the plastic into handsome outdoor furniture and long-lasting outdoor decks.

The ongoing collection of recyclable plastic film materials includes: Amazon bubble wrap bags, plastic grocery bags, bread bags, produce bags, cereal bags, dry cleaning bags, bubble wrap, ziplock, and salt bags. You should provide them clean, yes, but no need to peel off paper labels. We are NOT collecting: plastic containers, bottles, utensils, Tupperware, polystyrene, or Styrofoam. The corrugated plastic collection bin is to the left of the doors as you enter through the main narthex entrance of the Chapel.
