Chik-Kwun Tang
Chik-Kwun Tang, is an 83-year-old retired pathologist with an interest in the arts. Through his paintings, Chik-Kwun attempts to reflect history that transforms natural sceneries into artistic beauty or capture the atmosphere to express certain emotions.
During Chik-Kwun’s high school years, one of his teachers, an accomplished artist, taught drawing and watercolor painting. Chik-Kwun enjoyed it so much, he followed him to continue painting outdoors (plein air) after classes. After graduating from high school, Chik-Kwun entered medical school. During his schooling and years as a pathologist, he only painted once.
After retirement Chik-Kwun moved to Dunwoody Village Retirement Community where he relearned the basic techniques or watercolor painting. Once he started painting again Chik-Kwun’s daughter, who volunteered with a nonprofit organization that delivered food packages to seniors, asked him to make some 5×7 paintings for her. Each package would contain a 5×7 original painting with simple, cheerful, and encouraging words (both Chinese and English) written on them. Over several years of helping with the feeding ministry he did over four hundred little paintings.
It gives Chik-Kwun joy when his paintings can provide an encouraging visual message without words. Chik-Kwun’s hope is that his paintings bring joy, comfort, and peace.

Our Impact
Shop and Art Gallery proceeds help fund St. David’s International Outreach programs. We are currently serving needy children, families and communities in these countries:
- Cuba – water purification systems
- Guatemala – tuition aid, books and supplies
- Uganda – schools, feeding programs, medical care and supplies
Our global reach goes beyond the three countries we currently support. Through our extensive fair-trade collection, we also help provide economic opportunity to artists and workers in many countries including Kenya, India, Haiti, Vietnam, Thailand, Peru and Central Asia.
