St. David’s Episcopal Church Announces 2025 Summer Talks Series

Parish History & Archives Committee hosts three Wednesday evening programs exploring local art, architecture, and suburban transformation

RADNOR, PA—The Parish History & Archives Committee of St. David’s Episcopal Church invites the wider community to its annual Summer Talks, three free* lectures held at 7 p.m. on July 9, 16, and 23, 2025 in the church’s Chapel building (763 S. Valley Forge Rd., Wayne). Each program features a noted regional scholar who will illuminate a different facet of Main Line history. Full details may be found at stdavidschurch.org/archives.

Wednesday, July 9

“The Brandywine School of Artists”
Presenter: Ken DeMarco, J.D.—art historian and retired attorney—traces the legacy of Howard Pyle and three generations of the Wyeth family, America’s “first family of art.” DeMarco teaches art-history courses for Main Line School Night, distilling decades of study into engaging, image-rich lectures.

“Washington Memorial Chapel at Valley Forge: History and Symbolism”
Presenter: Gardiner Pearson, M.P.A.—former U.S. diplomat, Washington Memorial Chapel Vestry member, and vice-president of Washington Memorial Heritage—offers an insider’s tour of this National Park treasure, decoding its art, architecture, and tribute to the nation’s founders.

Wednesday, July 23

“A Change to Suburbia”
Presenter: Jeff Groff, M.A.—estate historian emeritus, Winterthur Museum—charts the post-estate boom that reshaped Radnor/Wayne, spotlighting architects such as Walter Durham and the rise of mid-century modern design from the 1930s to the 1960s.
