Update on Interim Search, Rector Farewells, and Rector Search

December 21, 2023

Dear Good People of St. David’s,

INTERIM UPDATE
As this season of anticipation winds to a close, so too does some of our own anticipation end this week. We are pleased to report that the Vestry has called and has an agreement in principle with a very capable and gifted interim rector! We anticipate an early January start date and look forward to introducing this talented person to you. The Vestry will share more details after the holiday when we have finalized details of the contract. At this point, we can say that we are amazed at the ways in which the Holy Spirit has showed up through this process and look forward to what the future holds for St. David’s. We will be in capable hands during this time of transition.

FAREWELL TO THE RECTOR
As you are aware, our time with Frank as our rector is soon ending. Those who attended the December 10th Service of Nine Lessons and Carols are already aware that we have rededicated St. David’s Hall as The Frank and Amy Allen Hall for Fellowship, or more concisely, Allen Hall. It is a fitting tribute to a pair who have meant so much to us these 26 years and one of only three named spaces on the campus, joining the Knewstub Building and the Harrison Room as a testament to those who have made extraordinary contributions to our parish. A plaque is in the works, and we will install it early in 2024 as a lasting memory of our dear friends.

Our final celebration for Frank will be taking place on January 12, 2024. Thank you to all who registered and bought tickets. At this time, and because of space constraints, the event is completely sold out and a waiting list has been started. If you have purchased tickets and are unable to attend, please contact the church office with this information so that someone else may take your place.

RECTOR SEARCH UPDATE
Interviews and discussions continue as the committee seeks to identify the next rector of St. David’s. Our dedicated group of volunteers steadily journey towards what will be the best fit for our church. Please continue to keep this committee in your prayers.

Work continues to ensure a smooth transition. Our excellent staff and dedicated clergy, in combined efforts with lay leaders and the Vestry, have the entire congregation in mind and heart as we journey together toward a new beginning.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May the peace of this season fill your heart.

We remain your faithful servants,

The Wardens of St. David’s
James B. Dolan, Jr., Rector’s Warden
Alison Hastings, Junior Warden
Jay Baldwin, Accounting Warden
