A Service of Nine Lessons & Carols
Come prepare your heart and soul for the coming of Christ this season! New this year, we’ve combined our annual Lessons & Carols service with a reception featuring Christmas Around the World.
A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, in the tradition of King’s College, Cambridge, will be presented by the St. David’s Adult Choir, Senior Choristers, Choristers, Junior Choristers, Cherub Choir, and Handbell Choirs. The scripture readings, and the carols and prayers that reflect them, follow the Christian story from the beginning of time to the fall, to the promise of the Messiah, and ultimately to the joyous celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. This service dates back to the late 19th Century in England, when carols, popular among the people, were introduced into Anglican worship in celebration of Christmas. The King’s College version dates to 1918 and has become the most well-known and beloved. In person, a free-will donation will be collected in support of St. David’s Music Ministries. This worship service will also be available via livestream.
Following the service, join us in Allen Hall for Christmas Around the World, a reception celebrating global Christmas traditions. Parishioners set up tables to share the unique customs, stories, music, decorations, traditions, and foods that make Christmas special in their family’s culture or heritage. Together, we’ll learn from one another and celebrate the beauty and diversity of our global church family. No registration is required. We look forward to sharing this special day with you!
This is the third and final of our three intergenerational forums during the Advent season.
