Dr. Henry Yates Carter

Dr. Henry Carter was born in London in 1750. He was a surgeon in the British Royal Navy aboard Lord Nelson’s Flagship, the HMS Victory. Dr. Carter served at the Battle of Trafalgar. This naval engagement fought on October 21, 1805, during the Napoleonic Wars, set England against France and Spain. England claimed victory, although Lord Nelson was mortally wounded during the battle which occurred off the coast of Cape Trafalgar, Spain. Dr. Carter died at age 99 after coming to America.
