Oh, to Hope…

“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Dear People of St. David’s,

I write you this letter, my last clergy letter to you all, while I’m at a hotel in New Jersey awaiting my time to head over to Fort Dix for my Military Entrance Possessing. I have met quite a few bright eyed and bushy tailed 18-year-olds who will join me on the bus for their processing too. I look in their eyes as I walk by, and I see so much hope and excitement and nerves as they prepare to serve our nation.

Oh, to hope…

I am reflecting on the time we have spent together over these past few years, and I am deeply grateful. Many of you have shared with me a sweet memory that we have shared and have had very kind words of encouragement and support. I must tell you; you may have thought that over our time together that it was I who helped to spark hope in our community through the highs and lows of the last few years, but truly it was all of you that gave me hope and helped to kindle that hope in our community. And I know that this work of spreading hope will continue and I will cherish our time together.

Oh, to hope…

This verse is currently bringing me peace, “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” I’m praying that during all my upcoming many miles that I will have to run, I won’t grow weary, or as I walk, or rather march, that I won’t faint. There are so many things that I want to tell you all and so little time. So, I will repeat the beginning of this verse; “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” Hope is such a powerful force in the world and you St. David’s Church are a community that shares so much hope with the world. Never stop! I hope you will come worship God this Sunday, my final Sunday worshiping with you all.

Oh, to hope…
