This March featured several fun fellowship activities for all ages!
A St. David’s Day Celebration to start the month
We kicked off the month on March 1 with our St. David’s Day celebration including Welsh-themed activities and a preview of the Churchyard tour opening this spring. There was a visit from St. David himself (played by John Nagy), music played by Sarah Sutton, delicious treats to honor Wales and including Welsh symbols such as the daffodil, daffodil and dragon crafts for all ages, face-painting for the kids, and a brief presentation on the coming Churchyard tour by Marianne Cook. Many thanks to Maria Leal for organizing the food and entertainment!
Our next All Parish fellowship activities include a talk about the Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen on Thursday, April 16, Annual Meeting on Sunday, May 3, and of course, the Archives’ summer talks and reading of the Declaration of Independence event this June and July.
St. David’s Men’s Fellowship Marks 25 Years at Annual Retreat
Earlier this month, twenty-six men from St. David’s Episcopal Church gathered for the annual Men’s Fellowship Retreat, held March 6–7 at the beautiful Donaldson Brown Riverfront Event Center. The retreat provided time for reflection, fellowship, and spiritual renewal—and this year carried special meaning as the parish celebrated the 25th anniversary of St. David’s Men’s Fellowship.
One of the highlights of the weekend was a birthday celebration marking this milestone. A cake was shared by the group, and three of the fellowship’s original founders—Michael Brent, Michael Tucker, and Jeffrey McCallum—were present to blow out the candles and help commemorate a quarter century of faithful fellowship among the men of the parish.
The retreat was led by Head Chaplain Tim Gavin of The Episcopal Academy, who guided the group through thoughtful reflections on the life and witness of Saint Francis of Assisi. Chaplain Gavin invited the men to study St. Francis’s well-known prayer and to consider the ways that power, relevance, and popularity can shape our decisions and influence how we lead our lives.
Through discussion and shared reflection, the men explored how St. Francis chose a different path—one rooted in humility, service, and devotion to God. His life offered a powerful example of faithful leadership and a reminder that true strength is often found in serving others.
Throughout the weekend, the group enjoyed time together in prayer, conversation, and fellowship. The Rev. Rick Morley and the Rev. Thomas Sczcerba also joined the retreat, adding to the spirit of community and encouragement that has long defined the Men’s Fellowship.
The Edge fellowship had a hopping good time at the movies
That same weekend, members of The Edge, our 4th and 5th grade fellowship, spent an afternoon at lunch and the movies to see the newly released animated feature, Hoppers, by Disney and Pixar. Their next event is a Spring Festival on Sunday, April 12. Register here.
Women’s Fellowship bowls in support of an Outreach partner
This past weekend the Women’s Fellowship gathered for some bowling to benefit Days for Girls (learn more on our Outreach page under Project Ensonga).
Next up for Women’s Fellowship is a Breakfast on Sunday, May 2 with Natalee Hill and Elliot VanHoy discussing the Cross Connections podcast. Register here. Then, watch for more information coming soon about a fall retreat!
